Creative Candle Making Foundations: Craft Ready™ is Course 1 in a six-course pathway, designed to build confident, hands-on candle-making skills from the ground up. Focused entirely on the creative craft, this course guides students through 1. Tools & Workspace, 2. Wax, Containers & Wicks, 3. Fragrance, Color & Candle Design, and 4. Measuring, Melting, Pouring & Temperature. Learn the purpose, selection, and care of essential tools; set up a safe, efficient, clean pouring area; understand wax performance and project suitability; choose compatible containers and wick families; balance fragrance load and scent throw; use color, texture, and design intent; and accurately calculate, weigh, melt, mix, pour, and cool each batch at appropriate temperatures.

Students then deepen their technical judgment through 5. Wick Selection & Testing, 6. Creative Design & Collections, 7. Curing, Burn Testing, Labeling, Safety & Quality Control, and 8. Signature Candle Collection / Final Project. You will practice matching wick size and type to the wax, vessel, and fragrance, develop cohesive candle concepts, evaluate curing and burn-test results, apply safety and quality-control practices, and document finished candles, test outcomes, and creative decisions. The course concludes with a hands-on capstone: creating and documenting a small, finished signature candle collection that brings together the practical techniques, testing process, and creative design skills developed throughout the Craft Ready™ stage.
